Linda Phillips
Monochrome Painter

Linda studied art and illustration to degree level followed by a PGCE in Art and Design. After many years working in education and alongside doing her own thing,  Linda gradually started painting  the  urban landscape around Staffordshire,  starting with past images of the 1950s and 60s referenced  from old family photographs. She loves how an old building or past landscape can stir up fond memories for people as they recall their own relationship and experiences with the scenery of that time.

Painting with acrylic in monochrome has become Linda’s preferred choice of medium in that;  she has started painting current landscape scenes the same way, as Linda believes paintings in monochrome can offer such an interesting narrative.

Linda tends to move between the urban landscape and animal paintings for the most part, (with the occasional portrait) as I also enjoy the challenge of painting the different textures of an animal’s fur or hair and prefers to capture the expression in an animals face  through a stare or a period of concentration.
