Jo Hill           textiles

I have lived in Stone from the age of five and have two children. After studying for a foundation in Art  I completed a 4 year degree course in Textiles at Kidderminster and Wolverhampton Polytechnic. I have been self employed running a soft furnishing business for the last 15 years. During this time I have spent many evenings studying City and Guilds courses in Soft Furnishings, Interior Design, Paper Craft, Textile Techniques, Machine Embroidery and Felt Making

After gaining my Teachers Cirtificate in Further and Adult Education in 2000, I have taught Soft Furnishings and Textile Crafts to adults part-time for Stafford College, Staffordshire County Council and independantly

I work from a studio in my garden. I have always had a passion for colour and textiles and have been creating things since a very early age.

My current work incorporates a wide variety of textile techniques including dyeing, stencilling, printing, applique, hand made papers and silk papers, felt, and hand and free machine embroidery. I make a wide variety of items, jewellery, cards, cussions, accessories and wall hangings. I am influenced by nature, especially birds and flowers and like to keep up to date in current trends in interiors and fashion.

More examples of my work can be found on myweb site
