Helen Cartlidge       painter

My passion for painting and drawing began in childhood.  I didn’t pursue this passion in an academic way until 1998 when I enrolled at Stafford College on a Foundation Art Course. I then progressed to study HND Fine Art, again at Stafford, achieving ‘Student of the Year’.
Altering my direction slightly, I completed my art education at Wolverhampton School of Art, studying Design in Textiles and Applied Art, where I was a winner in the John Lewis /Hill & Co. Student Rug Designer and owner of a B.A. Hons Degree.
As a founder member of Gallery at 12 in 2009, I am continuing with my passion. My paintings are inspired by my love of Chinese drawing, combing the boldness of ink with the delicacy and translucence of watercolour, enjoying the movement, freedom and contrast that this style brings.
